Lubbock High School, Lubbock, TX Mr. Doug Young, Principal Lubbock High School is a 5A school in Lubbock ISD. The school opened in 1930 and is included in the Texas Historical Commission Register. LHS has a very diverse student population with students from all across Lubbock applying for admission to the Lubbock Exemplary Academic Program (L.E.A.P.) Teachers model classroom curricula after that of college courses to prepare students for higher education. LHS was named one of the original 13 Texas Mentor Schools in 1993 by the Texas Education Agency. In 1996, LHS was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. LHS was admitted to the International Baccalaureate Program (IB) in 1999. IB courses were first offered during the 2000-2001 school year. IB diplomas are recognized world-wide.
