Westerner is an electronic, psychedelic rock band from LA. They're a ballsy, cocktail mix of psychedelic rock, disco, and trip hop. Think Pink Floyd meets Massive Attack meets late-90s electronica. Their songs are at once danceable and mesmerizing. You're bound to get swept up in this most unusual, confident sound.
A Westerner live show is a phenomenon. The band delivers catchy pop songs, has a fantastic connection with the audience, and jumps from stage pieces. Electronic noises are combined with psychedelic soundscapes to create an exciting show that's unlike anything you've seen or heard before. Music Connection Magazine has included them in their Hot 100 Live Acts list three years in a row (2016, 2017, and 2018).
From their April 2017 issue: "Westerner offer a completely entertaining blend of precision-played psychedelic glam rock. Funky beats and occasional electronics are applied to a showy indie-rock style that can either be danced to or appreciated on a purely musical level. It’s a compliment to say that their music is hard to compare to anybody else’s, but this is definitely life-force-celebrating music, both exuberant and infectious. Some very savvy pop tunes are deftly mixed with space-rock elements....they seem to have appeared from nowhere to emerge as one of the best bands in Los Angeles."
Cooper Bombadil started Westerner after he wrote and recorded their debut album, "Unreal City," a sci-fi rock opera composed of catchy pop songs, surreal sounds, and strange characters. He then formed a band to play the music live. After learning the written material the band collaborated on new songs. Over the years, Westerner has developed an explosive live show and a devoted following.
